Natural ingredients 2008: Organic Pavilion more popular than ever

Paris –Natural ingredients (Ni) 2008 announced today the launch of the Organic Pavilion, a dedicated area on the show floor focused on the booming organics market, held this year at the Paris Nord, Villepinte exhibition centre on 4-6 November 2008.

The addition of the Organic Pavilion to Ni 2008 is driven by the booming consumer market for food and drink with health and lifestyle benefits.  Companies from Europe, Asia and North America as far away as Canada and the USA will be purveying their organic ingredients to the thousands of visitors expected to the pavilion.

Notes Marjo Eussen, Project Development Manager for Ni and the Organic Pavilion, “The Organic Pavilion, and Ni as a whole, offers the most effective gathering of organic and natural ingredients buyers and sellers in the world. We are excited to have a dedicated Organics Pavilion and expect it to be amongst the busiest areas on the show floor.”

Also new in 2008 is Ni’s co-location with Health ingredients (Hi) Europe. Hi Europe, launched in 2000, is the largest meeting place in Europe for buyers and sellers of a full range of health ingredients. Ni’s co-location with Hi is expected to deliver unrivalled visitor numbers and access to a cross-sector exhibitor base.  Marjo Eussen continues, “Aligning Ni with Hi Europe is a natural fit – the crossover from event to event will provide maximum benefit to our hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors.”

The first edition of Ni, which took place in London in 2007, attracted 116 exhibitors from 26 countries, 13,506 visitors and a conference with 206 delegates.

Food ingredients Europe and Natural ingredients 2007 score

on quality and quantity

Maarssen, 29 November 2007 – Fi (Food ingredients) Europe 2007, which took place in London from 30th October to 1st November, has once again lived up to its reputation as Europe’s premier forum for the food ingredients industry. The show has been hailed a resounding success, attracting over 18,500 high-calibre visitors from 145 countries and a great deal of praise from both visitors and exhibitors.

“We are thrilled that visitor numbers topped 18,500, but even more important is that we managed to attract the right calibre of visitors,” said a delighted Greg Cherry, event director at organiser CMP Information. “70% of visitors were senior-level managers.”

Preliminary results from post-show questionnaires indicated that more than 95% of visitors surveyed rated the quality of the exhibitors as either ‘good’ or ‘excellent’, 81% were satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of the exhibitors, and 73% were ‘satisfied’ or ‘very satisfied’ with Fi Europe 2007 as a place to get updated on the latest ingredients. All in all, an incredible  88% of visitors rated their overall experience at Fi Europe 2007 as ‘good’ to ‘excellent’.

This exceptional visitor feedback was matched by positive comments from many of the show’s 1,100 exhibitors. “Fi Europe this year proved to be a great success for ABF Ingredients,” said an excited Tracy Scribbins, group marketing manager with UK-based ABF Ingredients. “We saw a 10% increase in the number of leads we received from the last show which was held in Paris. From the minute the doors opened on the first day our stand was busy, so much so that we ran out of spaces to seat visitors! The queues for registration were amazing and certainly not anything we had seen at a show before...it was more like the January sales! For ABF Ingredients Fi Europe is a very important exhibition and we have already booked our stand at Fi Europe Frankfurt for 2009.”

Jolanda van Haarlem, chief commercial officer with EBI Food Safety, another exhibitor and Fi Gold Award winner, was equally enthusiastic about the London show. “This year’s Fi Europe was a great opportunity for EBI Food Safety to meet a large number of professionals from the food industry in just three days,” she said. “Exhibiting at Fi Europe contributed a lot of new business leads from all over the world and gave us the chance to explain our innovative food safety solutions to a large audience. And of course winning the Gold ‘Most Innovative Food Ingredient’ Award boosted the number of visitors to our stand. It was a matter of winning the right award at the right time, now the challenge is to follow up with companies around the globe.”

The introduction of several new value-added features signalled a new era for Fi Europe this year, and generated further interest from the international food community.

Natural Ingredients Show

Running Alongside Fi Europe

For the first time this year, Ni (Natural ingredients) was staged as an independent event alongside Fi Europe. The inaugural event attracted over 110 exhibitors from 25 countries and decision makers from a range of manufacturing sectors, from cosmetics to medicinal remedies. The Ni Conference hosted 192 delegates and saw a sold out session on “The Future of Natural Ingredients”, proving that the concept is solid.

Maria E Abad Jara, Research Associate with Phytotrade Africa had this to say about Ni 2007, “Exhibiting at Ni was perfect as we are targeting not just the food industry, but also the cosmeticsand medicinal remedies industries, so it meant we met prospects from all of these sectors without incurring the expense of exhibiting at several different shows. It was the first time we had exhibited at Ni and it certainly met our expectations, generating about 120 strong leads for us. We're definitely thinking about booking space at Ni 2008."

Neil Sorensen, Communications and Events Manager, IFOAM commented, "Natural ingredients (Ni) presented not only a unique sales opportunity but also a fantastic networking opportunity for us. With demand for natural and organic ingredients booming, Ni has really come at the right time for the industry. There's no doubt that it will go from strength to strength and CMP can definitely count us in as supporters and exhibitors going forwards as we believe they are reallyonto something."

A positive reception from exhibitors and visitors has more than justified Ni’s place as a stand-alone event going forward - in fact 55% of this years' show stand space has already been rebooked and the brand is being extended globally to food shows in Thailand, Eastern Europe, India and South America.

New Features at Fi Europe Display

Latest Developments and Innovations

Other new features included Exhibitor Showcases and the New Product Zone. Two Exhibitor Showcase areasgave visitors the chance to attend accessible, ‘bite-sized’ introductions to exhibitors’ products and technologies. The 30 minute slots offered a time-efficient way of finding out about new ingredient technologies. Over 40 exhibitors took this opportunity for promoting their ingredients. The New Product Zone is a display area dedicated to showcasing the most cutting-edge products on the market. Over 20 companies displayed their products, providing visitors with a useful innovation reference point.

Launch of New Business Forum

for International Food Ingredients Industry

CMP Information also used Fi Europe and Ni 2007 as the launch-pad for www.whatsnewiningredients.com,

an on-line resource for up-to-date news and information from the international ingredients industry, where suppliers can upload press releases, product information, research and industry news free-of-charge. The site incorporates several elements that will be familiar to users of Wikipedia, Ebay, U-tube and Amazon. For example, the site’s audience decides what content is useful and important - the more an article is viewed, the more prominent a position it gains on the site. Users can also rate articles, promoting content that is particularly relevant, and post questions and comments on material.

Wide Variety of Industry Topics in the Spotlight at the

Fi Europe and Ni 2007 Conferences

A major draw this year was the information-packed conference programmes, which saw internationally acclaimed speakers and respected industry experts giving valuable insight into issues as diverse as nanotechnology, allergens, climate change and beauty foods. The modular format meant visitors could pick and choose which parts to attend. Some modules, such as ‘The Future of Natural Ingredients’, were so popular that they sold out weeks before the show.
